I first learned Perl in 1999 and have been writing Perl ever since. Over the last 6 years I've lived and worked as a Perl developer in Beijing, Singapore, and London. Last year I returned to the US and am currently a contractor working remotely with two small Perl startups.
My side projects are a personal finance tool (http://networthify.com/calculator/earlyretirement) and a web app for Chinese flashcards (http://iijo.org)
