Many advanced users of Perl will deride perlcritic and Damian Conway's _Perl Best Practices_, asserting that over-dependence on rules-lawyering does not make for better code. And they're right! But there is value to be had in perlcritic and PBP, if you use them correctly, and for the right reasons. In this talk, Ruth will discuss the hows and whys of building a perlcritic profile that is sane and useful for your project and your development environment. A sampling of useful and not-so-useful perlcritic rules will be shown, along with a brief discussion of how to create your own rules.
