Google maps are great, but for the DeLorean Digital Dashboard I needed them to be available offline, and I wanted unlimited rendering. I turned to Open Street Maps, but the existing software and data was a pain. This talk documents my findings and shows off a new Perl module for working with Open Street Map data. It is useful to anyone who needs to do map processing and where Google maps API isn't a good fit.
